Earthing & Lightning Protection Division

There is no major difference between earthing and Grounding, both means Connecting an electrical circuit or device to the Earth. This serves various purposes like to drain away unwanted currents, to provide a reference voltage for circuits needing one, to lead lightning away from delicate equipment.

The process of transferring the immediate discharge of the electrical energy directly to the earth by the help of the low resistance wire is known as the electrical earthing.

The earthing is essential because of the following reasons:

The earthing protects the personnel from the short circuit current of the equipment passes to the earth which has zero potential. Thus, protects the system and equipment from damage.
The earthing provides the easiest path to the flow of short circuit current even after the failure of the insulation.
The earthing protects the apparatus and personnel from the high voltage surges and lightning discharge.

Wiring Solutions

Electrical wiring is an electrical installation of cabling and associated devices such as switches, distribution boards, sockets and light fittings in a structure.

Wiring is subject to safety standards for design and installation. Allowable wire and cable types and sizes are specified according to the circuit operating voltage and electric current capability, with further restrictions on the environmental conditions, such as ambient temperature range, moisture levels, and exposure to sunlight and chemicals.

Associated circuit protection, control and distribution devices within a building's wiring system are subject to voltage, current and functional specification.
